Homeowner Tip: Spring Roof Inspection

While many might argue that we are experiencing faux spring here in Ohio, on days like today we can really tell it’s in sight! Time to start thinking of your spring to-dos – what better way to start than to inspect your roof. Best to get a head start and think about scheduling that inspection soon, or simply take a look for yourself.

Why start thinking now? Because your roof endures a lot during winter weather. Ice and snow is hard on shingles, so best to make sure none are cracked or missing. Also, with spring rains on the way you will want to get any leaks or other hazards in check before more damage occurs.

While you’re up on your roof, make sure you’re checking your gutters and downspouts. Remove any debris from them and do a water test to make sure everything flows smoothly and there are no leaks, as well as checking to make sure your gutters are still fully connected to your home. Make sure to also take a look at seals around your chimney or skylights. Anything with a damaged seal is likely to leak. It’s probably a good idea to inspect your attic while you’re at it, too. Look for any signs of water leaks or damaged seals. You’ll want to keep an eye out for any water stains, mold or mildew.

If you think you have damage or leaking, be sure to call a professional. They can guide you in the best direction should you need to make repairs. We have a great list of venders, so don’t be afraid to reach out to our team should you need help.
