- Your first application should be fertilization with pre-emergent and the key is to have it down before things have a chance to bloom otherwise you will be fighting crabgrass.
- Spring and Fall (most important) Aeration. Lawn aeration is important as it helps stimulate the roots.
- DIY mistake: if you put down seed before the pre-emergent you will be fighting crabgrass. Best time to introduce seed is the fall as roots develop in the fall.
